10.Mr.Manmohan Kapur      ------                       ------- do ---------.

The industries Minister Govt.of Punjab assured all possible help in the said matter!

The Memorandum read as follows:
We humbly submit that, 60 Tanneries (Leather industrial units)  in Jalandhar were forcibly closed under the orders of Punjab & Haryana High Court on 29th of October, 2019 to December, 2020, without given sufficient chance of being heard, rendering more than 40000 workers jobless (10000 direct & 30000 indirect, majority being from SC community & low income segment of society) of an industry with annual turnover of approximately 1200 crores (50% of which is export thus earning valuable Foreign Exchange for our country).
To provide relief to this ailing industry, following suggestions are made:
1. As the Upgradation of CETP (Common Effluent Treatment Plant)  has been approved in Principle by DPITT (Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, GOI)  at a cost of Rs.29.43 crores approximately, in which 70% share will be provided by Central govt., 15% each by state govt. & the concerned industry, but as explained above due to the 14 months closure & again due to  COVID 19 Pandemic, the industry is fighting for its existence & unable to contribute its stipulated share, which you are requested to make good as a kind gesture to the ailing leather industry;

2. As explained above that due to the orders of Hon'ble Punjab & Haryana High Court, industry remained closed for a period of 14 months, but PSPCL has raised bills for the said period which is unfair & you are requested to waive them off, because even the DG (Generator) sets were sealed.

Leather Industry is in dire need of help and intervention from the Govt. to see the future of its existence and prosperity !
