Doctor SK Sharma said every human being wants to live and enjoy healthy life, at the same time, while many people are doing well in their life, still they are unsatisfied & are under stress, depression, worries & illness.
Dr. Sharma gave few tips for Happy Living or Jiyo Zindagi.
i). Drinkat least 7-10 glasses a day, as it is essential for our body to function well and stay hydrated;
ii). Good sleep is also important for our good living. Lack of sleep could results into heart trouble, blood pressure problem, diabetes and can affect our immune system. For good sleep, we should avoid caffeine and nicotine close to bed time;
iii). Regular exercise or daily exercise can improve our health in many ways. It helps in the increase of life span, lower the risk of diseases, strengthen body and helps in losing our weight.
iv). Proper eating, adding more fruits and fresh vegetables in our diet and minimizing fast food, cut down on processed food as these generally contains added preservatives and also have high amount of slat contents resulting higher blood pressure. We should also cut down oily and sugary food items as they also effects our immune system.
Sh. Sharma also threw light on his NGO, Manav Sehyog Society, Jalandhar. In 1973, few friends joined hands and started Manav Sehyog Society with an idea to serve economically poor, backward and needy sick people and students. The name of M.S.S. (Manav Sehyog Society) carries significant & simple message i.e.“Where the human being helps and cooperates with another human being”. Most important is to focus on the upliftment of the less privileged sections of the society. Manav Sehyog Society is committed to serve Humanity in two prime needs i.e. Health and Education.
Dr. Sharma also shared his views on JIYO ZINDAGI project. He said, in present world, the life expectancy is improving and the population of older people is bound to increase in future. With the modern life style, more & more elder people living by themselves or in families where everyone has their own life to live, where their children are working, staying or settled abroad, elderly feels lonely & lack of communication with their nears and dears and this is rapidly increasing not only in the cities but in rural areas too, in such a case we need to have facilities like day outs, senior citizen clubs & elderly welfare services. Their society, Manav Sehyog Society, has started a senior citizen day care center “JIYO ZINDAGI” in association with Mool Raj Seva Sansthan at Ladowali Road. We wish and hope, many of our elderly sehyogis will be benefited from the new venture of the society. Inauguration of Jiyo Zindagi was held on dated 07th July 2019. Jiyo Zindagi centre is well equipped & the facilities available there from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. Few activities, such as Counselling, meditation, yoga, indoor games like chess, cards, carrom-board, tambola are carried out and many others activities like local outings, indoor movies, computer learning will be added soon.
Dr. BS Chopra said that, most of to days youth are in the grip of drugs and spoiling their lives. Smoking and drinking too is bad for healthy life, plus Paan-Masala severely increases the risk of lung cancer, throat-cancer, kidney cancer, heart attack etc. If possible, stay away from smokers as this may cause same long term diseases via indirect smoking. He also said that, their hospital, PATEL HOSPITAL in Jalandhar started in the year 1976 by a physician, he himself and a surgeon Dr. SK Sharma as 20 bedded hospital and today its total bed strength crossed 250 bedded Multi Specialty and Super Specialty Hospitals in Northern India and also is the first private cancer hospital to become fully functional in North West India, with all facilities for oncology and cancer surgery. Today, this hospital is equipped with ultramodern and state-of-the-art facilities for comprehensive care from OPD and routine check ups, to intensive care and specialized to super specialized surgeries. He also informed that, they have always upheld their social commitments and have invested extensively in charitable causes of medical and patient care at affordable rates to all sections of society.
Vote of thanks was given by Sh. Vijay Talwar. He admitted that, the meeting was very fruitful and knowledgeable, and as businessmen are always busy, they tend to ignore their health. This is the reason no business issues were discussed in it, rather whole discussion was based on health and social issues and all the members listened to the expert views of Dr. Sharma and Dr. Chopra with keen interest, and he expressed hope that such meetings will be conducted by other LUB units too, as we are not only concerned with business but also with the betterment of society as a whole.
This meeting was very nicely covered by our local print media, and kindly find attached herewith its few photographs & press-coverage!
