Dear LUB-Punjab executive committee members, The monthly LUB-Jalandhar unit meeting was held on 26/07/2019. This meeting was held at New Court President on 26th July 2019 at 8:00 pm. Around 50 members were present in this meeting. Key Note Speakers were from NIT, Jalandhar. Prof. Dinesh Shukla (HOD), Prof. Rajeev Kukreja (Ex HOD), Prof. Ajay Trehan. Guest of Honor: Punjab LUB President Adv. Arvind Dhumal.
Nowadays many new start-ups are coming, as they are facing less difficulty in getting advances/ loans from the financial institutes, but are facing hurdles in their production processes, resulting into higher production costs, delayed supplies and sometimes financial losses. Keeping this aspect, LUB-Jalandhar invited Mechanical faculty from NIT Jalandhar, for discussions & consultations in this regard.
Meeting commenced with offering of flowers to Bharat Mata picture, singing of national song vande-maataram & floral welcome of guests.LUB-Jalandhar President Mr.Harish Gupta welcomed the guests from Technical / Mechanical Education streams & who were PhD Postgraduate Doctoral Degree holders, were invited specially to guide LUB-Jalandhar members regarding the production problems that they face regularly while running their industries.
Prof.Ajay Tehran introduced himself as one of the oldest faculty members in engineering dept of NIT, which is guiding its students in every sphere related to mechanical work, since long, and also modernizing its studies which helps the students to show their caliber globally.
Prof.Dinesh Shukla (HOD), in his short speech, explained the term Mechanical Engineering, that, it is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineering comprises of design, analysis of heat and mechanical power for the operation of machines and mechanical systems. It applies engineering, physics, engineering mathematics, and materials science principles to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems.
The mechanical engineering field requires an understanding of core areas including mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, material science, structural analysis, and electricity.
In addition to these core principles, mechanical engineers use tools such as computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) and product life cycle management to design and analyze the manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling system, transport system, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons, and many others.
Prof. Rajeev Kukreja also shared his views and suggested that their engineering dept of NIT can provide it’s service to the MSME’s and the results would be very fruitful for the industry and to the engineering students as a whole, as many students will be getting real practical knowledge about the production problems faced by MSME’s.
LUB-Punjab President Adv. Arvind Dhumal appreciated this technical interaction with educationist experts and expressed hope that, such interactions & seminars should be organized frequently for the benefit of MSMEs, so that, the existing infrastructure of NITs could be utilized for new innovations which would help Local MSMEs to overcome their major handicap of technology up-gradation (available at much higher cost, out of the reach of small industries), enabling them to produce quality products at cheap cost, to compete successfully in this competitive era.
He also informed the members about the factors which led to the formation of LUB, 25 years back, about its aims, & how it has been able to fight for the cause of MSMEs.
He also informed all the members that, till the Bhilai NEC (from 26 to 28 of May 2019), 7 Laghu Udyammi sammellans were organized in Punjab – Dera-Bassi, Sirhind, Batala, Amritsar, Phillaur, Phagwara & Jalandhar (state-level sammellan, where All India President LUB Mr. Jitendra Gupt was specifically present) and now for National Level Laghu Udyammi sammellan, Nagpur(from 16 to 18 of August, 2019), around 50 LUB-delegates from Punjab will be participating, as their Air tickets are already booked and many have done their registration done.
Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Manohar Dhawan. He said no doubt combination of practical knowledge (jugaad) with theoretical knowledge is always successful & more efficient, resulting in a lower cost of production and increases our margins.
ADV. ARVIND DHUMAL,
President, Laghu Udyog Bharti – Punjab.
