How RBI’s 2026 TReDS Directions Advance MSME Financing Reform

The RBI’s 2026 TReDS directions mark a major step in converting policy intent into working capital access for MSMEs. The framework supports the Union Budget’s push to make receivables financing more scalable through TReDS, CPSE settlement, GeM integration, credit guarantees and securitisation.

The key operational change is the removal of mandatory seller due diligence at onboarding, making it easier for smaller and informal MSMEs to join the platform. Funds will still flow only to KYC-verified bank accounts, preserving payment safeguards.

For business owners, the reform can reduce friction, improve invoice liquidity and attract more financiers. Guarantee-backed factoring may also help suppliers to lower-rated buyers access formal credit.
