Laghu Udyog Bharati, Jammu & Kashmir, orga-nized a one-day interactive session at Kathua to discuss the issues being faced by MSMEs in Jammu & Kash-mir and to strengthen the organizational structure of Laghu Udyog Bharati across the Union Territory. The programme was organized by the Kathua Ikai of Laghu Udyog Bharati.
The programme started with the lighting of the tra-ditional lamp and felicita tion of dignitaries and con-cluded with the National Anthem.
Prakash Chandra, All India Sangathan Mantri (Organizing Secretary), Laghu Udyog Bharati, was the main guide of the pro gramme. The Kathua event was part of his five-day tour of the North-Western states, During this tour, he visited Bathinda in Punjab and sub sequently Bhiwani, Hisar and Panipat in Haryana; Paonta Sahib, Kala Amb and Parwanoo in Himachal Pradesh; Chandigarh; and Patiala, Ludhiana, Phag-wara and Batala in Punjab before reaching Jammu & Kashmir for the Kathua programme.
The programme was attended by Arvind Dhumal, National Vice Pres-ident and Prabhari North Zone; Parveen Pargal, National Working Commit tee Member; Dinesh Gupta, President, Laghu Udyog Bharati J&K; Vivek Rathore, State General Secretary, Punjab; Vikrant Sharma, North Zone Head, Mass Communication; Aagam Jain, State General Secre-
tary, J&K; Ishant Gupta, State Treasurer, J&K and North Himalaya Zone Head, Mass Communication; and Manoj Goyal, President, Kathua Ikai.
Addressing the gather ing, Prakash Chandra spoke about the glorious history of Bharat and explained why India was once known as the “Sone Ki Chidiya”. He said that today India is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and is making rapid progress in semiconductors, technol ogy, telecommunications and the space sector.
He said that earlier there was focus mainly on large industries, but during the tenure of former Prime Min-ister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, a decision was taken in 2002 to give special atten-tion to small industries, which later led to the strengthening of the MSME Ministry. He said MSMEs are the real backbone of the economy because they create employment oppor tunities and help in the development of villages and small towns.

Arvind Dhumal high lighted the history, objec tives and working style of Laghu Udyog Bharati. He said the organization is continuously connecting industries with new tech nologies and government schemes to strengthen the MSME sector. He also spoke about organizational expan sion and the role of entre preneurs in nation-building.
Parveen Pargal submit-ted a memorandum high lighting various issues being faced by industries in Jammu & Kashmir. He demanded extension of the NCSS package and imme diate release of benefits to 602 industrial units which have already applied online and offline and made invest ments. He also demanded a fresh 10-year Central Package for micro, small
and existing industries. in Jammu & Kashmir. He thanked the national leader-ship of Laghu Udyog Bharati for consistently supporting the issues of MSMEs in the region.
Dinesh Gupta introduced the life and contributions. of Prakash Chandra and highlighted the activities of Laghu Udyog Bharati in Jammu & Kashmir. He also announced the new office bearers of Kathua Ikai, including Manoj Goyal as President, Rajinder Gupta as Senior Vice President, Rahul Jain as Vice President, Piyush Rastogi as General Secretary, Mohit Bhatia and Arun Sharma as Secretaries, and Nitish Kumar as Trea-surer.
Ishant Gupta conduct-ed the proceedings of the programme, while Manoj Goyal presented the vote of thanks. A large number of industrialists, entrepre-neurs and members of Laghu Udyog Bharati par-ticipated in the programme and expressed their com-mitment towards strength-ening the MSME sector and expanding the organization across Jammu & Kashmir.
