A significant meeting on the Union Budget was held in Siliguri, attended by Shri Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education & DONER, and Shri Raju Bista, Member of Parliament. During the meeting, members of Laghu Udyog Bharati actively raised critical issues concerning industries, taxation policies, and entrepreneurial development.

1. Condition of the Tea Industry in North Bengal:
Shri Mahendra Bansal highlighted the deteriorating condition of the tea industry in North Bengal and expressed concerns over the Tea Board’s inactiveness in addressing the industry's pressing needs. The Hon’ble Minister and MP took serious note of the matter and assured necessary intervention.

2. Darjeeling Tea Garden Challenges:
Shri Satish Mitruka emphasized the poor state of the Darjeeling tea gardens, drawing attention to the difficulties faced by tea planters and workers, which require urgent government action.

3. GST Audit Inconveniences:
Shri Rajesh Agarwal raised concerns regarding the challenges faced by businesses during GST audits, pointing out the complexities and disruptions caused by the current audit processes.

4. Disparity in Depreciation Rates:
A key taxation-related issue was brought up regarding the difference in depreciation rates between the Income Tax Act and the Companies Act. It was suggested that a uniform depreciation rate be adopted to ease compliance for businesses.

5. Industry-Academia Collaboration for Startups:
It was proposed that colleges be encouraged to establish Entrepreneurship (E) Cells to facilitate industry mentorship for students, enabling better startup incubation and skill development for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The discussions reflected Laghu Udyog Bharati's commitment to addressing key industrial concerns and strengthening MSMEs. The meeting concluded with an assurance from the dignitaries that these matters would be reviewed at the appropriate levels to ensure necessary policy interventions and support for businesses in North Bengal.
