Exploration: National Action Plan for Strengthening India's Food & Agro Sector (26th April 2025)
On 26th April 2025, a significant milestone was achieved with the formulation of a National Action Plan aimed at strengthening India's Food and Agro sector. The meeting was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Prakash Chandra Ji, Shri Ghanshyam Ojha Ji, Shri Om Prakash Gupta Ji, Shri Om Prakash Mittal Ji, Shri Tara Chand Goyal Ji, and Shri Ashish Deorah Ji, whose participation added immense strength and valuable insights to the discussions.
As part of this initiative, specialized focus groups were constituted to address key areas including policy and regulations, marketing linkages, import substitution and exports, sustainability, and warehousing and logistics. These focus groups will operate across division, state, and national levels, with dedicated committees being formed to drive targeted action.
The plan outlines enhancements in the online working systems, ensuring seamless coordination and communication across levels. Regular physical meetings will be organized to maintain momentum and track progress. A central officer will be appointed to manage the continuous flow of suggestions and address challenges, ensuring a dynamic feedback loop. Additionally, subject matter experts will be engaged for technical guidance, while a specialized unit for handling international affairs will be established to boost global engagement.
The action plan also emphasizes promoting home-based industries, leveraging local strengths to develop globally competitive enterprises. A systematic approach to data management will be undertaken to build strong profiles for informed decision-making. Furthermore, preparations for a dedicated budget fund are underway to financially support the envisioned initiatives and ensure sustainable sectoral growth.
This National Action Plan marks a pivotal step towards positioning India's Food and Agro sector as a resilient, globally competitive force while strengthening local ecosystems and entrepreneurial capacities.
