On 20th July 2025, a delegation from Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) had a highly fruitful and meaningful interaction with the respected Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), Dr. Rajeev Raghuvanshi. The meeting focused on key issues concerning the pharmaceutical and MSME sectors, where several preliminary agreements were reached. One of the major highlights was the agreement on the reconstitution of the Indian Drug Advisory Forum, which will serve as a quarterly platform for dialogue between representatives of all major industry associations and senior officials including the Hon’ble Health Secretary, DCGI, Joint DCGI, and the CDSCO team. Dr. Raghuvanshi appreciated the suggestion and has already initiated the process for its formation.
Another crucial point discussed was the launch of technical and continuous education programs aimed at enhancing the skills of industry technocrats, particularly the Heads of Production, Quality Assurance (QA), and Quality Control (QC). The DCGI directed that this proposal be formally discussed in the upcoming Drug Consultative Committee (DCC) meeting. The matter of ONLDS registration for technical personnel was also taken up, to which Dr. Raghuvanshi provided guidance on the existing registration process and steps to be followed. Additionally, the inclusion of LUB representatives in the Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) was proposed to ensure MSME representation in policy discussions. This suggestion was acknowledged positively, and discussions are ongoing as per constitutional provisions, with expected outcomes in the near future.
The meeting marked a significant step forward in strengthening industry-regulator collaboration, and LUB expresses sincere gratitude to Dr. Rajeev Raghuvanshi for his openness, support, and prompt action on key issues.
