On 23rd February 2026, the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and the Incubation, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of Kalpataru Institute of Technology, Tiptur, organized an enriching academic and innovation-focused visit to the prestigious Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. A team of 12 student innovators, guided and mentored by Dr. Mitta Sekhara Gowd, Professor and Head – IIEDC, visited the MSME Centre of Excellence at the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (DESE) to present their innovative projects and seek expert mentorship.
At the MSME Centre of Excellence, the students had the opportunity to interact with distinguished experts including Srinivas M. Jamkhandi, Project Scientist, MSME Centre of Excellence, IISc (Former Director (E&E), Ministry of MSME, Government of India); B. S. Srinivasan, Chairman – Industry Academia Connect, Laghu Udyog Bharati Karnataka and Member – Joint Advisory Committee, DESE, IISc; and Dr. H. N. Suma, Professor, Department of Medical Electronics, BMS College of Engineering, Head – CIME and CEO – CIIE. The interaction served as a dynamic platform for in-depth technical discussions, research insights, and industry-oriented refinement of the students’ innovations.
During the visit, five impactful student projects were presented:
EcoPulse Tree for Pollution Control – Demonstrated live during the session, this project focuses on innovative environmental pollution mitigation strategies.
Moss Curtains – Natural Air Filtration System – A sustainable solution utilizing natural moss for indoor air purification.
Hemp Sachet – Sustainable Packaging Material – An eco-friendly alternative to conventional packaging materials, promoting biodegradable solutions.
AI-Based Deepfake Detection System – A technology-driven security solution addressing digital misinformation and cyber threats.
StepSync Energy – Mechanical Footfall to Electrical Power Conversion System – A renewable energy initiative converting human movement into usable electrical energy.
The projects collectively reflected strong alignment with national priorities in sustainability, renewable energy, pollution control, eco-friendly materials, digital security, and MSME-driven innovation. Prof. Srinivas M. Jamkhandi appreciated the societal relevance and technical depth of the innovations and assured continued support by facilitating linkages with appropriate domain experts, industry professionals, incubation platforms, and MSME networks to enable prototype development and commercialization pathways.
The successful visit and its constructive outcomes were highly appreciated by the Principal, H. C. Sateesh Kumar, and the Management of Kalpataru Institute of Technology. They commended the students and the IIC–IIEDC team for their proactive commitment toward fostering innovation, strengthening research orientation, and promoting meaningful industry–academia collaboration.
