Laghu Udyog Bharti Raises GST and Land Concerns at Jharkhand Industry Meet

The Jharkhand Provincial Industry Conference of Laghu Udyog Bharti was successfully organized on 19th May at the Auto Cluster Auditorium, Adityapur, where local entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the significant challenges faced by the MSME sector in the region.

Former National President Shri Omprakash Mittal graced the event as the chief guest. He actively listened to the concerns of the entrepreneurs and assured them that the matters raised—especially those related to GST burdens and industrial land policy—would be formally escalated to the concerned government departments.

Mittal emphasized Laghu Udyog Bharti’s proactive role in securing over 250 favorable GST amendments over the years. He advocated for a uniform national land policy to simplify the establishment of industries and reduce regional disparities.

Key Concerns Raised:

Entrepreneur Sumit Mehta highlighted how the 18% GST on agricultural tool manufacturing and cheap Chinese raw material imports are driving local units to closure.

Usha Jha, a woman entrepreneur, questioned the lack of benefits despite consistent GST payments, and demanded pension schemes and easier credit access for women-led enterprises.

Scrap industry representatives protested against the additional 5% GST and 1% TDS, which they claimed severely impacted their margins.

Mittal assured that a formal representation would be submitted to the Finance and Industry Ministries via the Jharkhand state committee.

Inder Agarwal, Jharkhand in-charge and national executive member, emphasized the importance of expanding Laghu Udyog Bharti’s base and acting as a bridge between entrepreneurs and policymakers. He also urged the state government to address the high land prices and limited availability in Adityapur Industrial Area to prevent the outflow of industries from the region.

The event witnessed the presence of:

Vijay Mewad (Provincial General Secretary)

Gyan Chand Jaiswal (District President)

Hundreds of committed entrepreneurs

The conference was effectively conducted by Praveen Gutgutia, with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dashrath Upadhyay.

Laghu Udyog Bharti reaffirmed its commitment to being the voice of the MSME sector and driving policies for sustainable industrial growth across Jharkhand and beyond.
