A one-day workshop on “Catalyzing Innovative MSMEs through Awareness and Opportunities” was organized at Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering (JNNCE), Shivamogga with the collaboration of the MSME Centre of Excellence, Centre for Continuing Education, IISc, Laghu Udyog Bharati Karnataka, and the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA). The workshop aimed to create awareness among Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) about innovation, technology adoption, and emerging opportunities that can help industries improve competitiveness and achieve sustainable growth.
During the workshop, experts from academia and industry shared valuable insights on the importance of innovation in MSMEs and highlighted various government initiatives and support mechanisms available for entrepreneurs. Sessions focused on product and process innovation, sustainable and green technologies, and the role of research institutions in supporting industrial development. The speakers also emphasized how MSMEs can collaborate with premier institutions like the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to adopt advanced technologies and strengthen their manufacturing capabilities.
The program also provided a platform for entrepreneurs, students, and industry representatives to interact, exchange ideas, and understand the application process for various MSME support programs. Success stories of innovative enterprises were shared to motivate participants to explore new technologies and business models. The workshop encouraged MSMEs to leverage research, innovation, and government schemes to scale their businesses and enhance productivity.
Such initiatives play an important role in bridging the gap between academia and industry, fostering a culture of innovation among MSMEs. The collaborative effort by JNNCE, IISc, Laghu Udyog Bharati Karnataka, and KASSIA reflects a strong commitment to strengthening the MSME ecosystem and promoting technology-driven entrepreneurship in the region.
