MSMEs Key to Maharashtra’s One-Trillion-Dollar Economy: Laghu Udyog Bharati Maharashtra

Laghu Udyog Bharati Maharashtra organized an insightful interaction on the theme “The Role of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Maharashtra’s Goal of Becoming a One-Trillion-Dollar Economy.” The program featured a dialogue with Devendra Fadnavis’s Chief Advisor, Kaustubh Dhavse, in the presence of entrepreneurs and members from across the state.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Dhavse emphasized that MSMEs are the backbone of Maharashtra’s economy and play a crucial role in supporting large-scale industrial projects. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening the MSME sector and ensuring that Maharashtra continues to lead the nation in industrial and economic growth.

During the discussion, Shri Dhavse highlighted emerging opportunities for MSMEs in sectors such as defence, steel, textiles, and information technology, encouraging entrepreneurs to integrate into evolving supply chains. He also noted that industrial development is rapidly expanding beyond the traditional Mumbai–Pune corridor to regions including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Nagpur, and Gadchiroli, supported by transformative infrastructure projects such as the Samruddhi Mahamarg.

He further informed participants that a dedicated industrial cluster for Japanese companies is being developed in Supa near Pune, which is expected to create new opportunities for collaboration and business partnerships for local MSMEs. Stressing the importance of financial accessibility, he advocated for lower interest rates on MSME loans to accelerate growth and competitiveness.

On the technological front, Shri Dhavse urged entrepreneurs to adopt Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to remain competitive in rapidly changing global markets and to enhance productivity, innovation, and efficiency.

During the interaction, members of Laghu Udyog Bharati raised several concerns affecting MSMEs and strongly demanded the establishment of a dedicated MSME Ministry within the Maharashtra Government to ensure focused policy support, faster decision-making, and more effective implementation of schemes for small industries.

The program concluded with a constructive exchange of ideas and a shared commitment to strengthening Maharashtra’s MSME ecosystem, recognizing its vital role in achieving the state’s vision of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
